Continuing to ignore the primary diaries, race arguments, and flame wars, let's enjoy another eiditon of "Shuffle Your Ipod" Friday!
The rules:
- Get our your Ipod/MP3 Player
- Hit Shuffle
- List the first 10 songs that come up. Commentary optional.
- No cheating! Don't pick and choose. If an Air Supply song comes up, tough noogies.
Okay, I'll start.
I got really lucky last week and didn't have anything truely embarassing come up. Let's see how I do this week!
- No Quarter - Page & Plant - No Quarter
W00t! Off to a killer start! "Most High" was my favorite song on the album, but you can't go wrong with No Quarter
- Truckdrivin' Neighbors Downstairs - Beck - Mellow Gold
Talk about painting a picture with words - "Bellyflop naked in a pool of yellow sweat / Screaming jackass with a wet cigarette / It's just my shit-kickin', speed-takin', truckdrivin' neighbor downstairs."
- Raised By Wolves - Voxtrot - Voxtrot EP
If Voxtrot catches on, I know a bunch of local bands that are going to be on the Top 40 in about a week. Sounds very much like The Central Standards or The Archives. You don't know who they are, but look them up if you like the Voxtrot sound.
- Rock of Ages - Def Leppard - Vault: Def Leppard's Greatist Hits
DAMNIT! I knew it wouldn't last. I've previously described my fascination with Def Leppard. Look, if you can't accept that I'm a former dittohead, you're just going to have to accept that I like Def Leppard. Moving on.
- Whole Lotta Love - Black Crowes with Jimmy Page - Live at the Greek
Whoa! Apparently it's Jimmy Page Day on the 'ol Ipod today. I don't normally much like the Black Crowes, but the Live at the Greek double album is absolutely awesome from start to finish.
- Knights of Cydonia - Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
When asked the question "how much 'lasers, hoofbeats, and metal-bikini-clad blonde chic' is too much in a song?", Muse answers "it's a trick question. You can never have enough lasers and hoofbeats." A great song, but an even better video.
- Don't Do Me Like That - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Greatist Hits
$100 says this is one of his 4 songs during the Super Bowl Halftime show. I love Tom, but good luck topping Prince from last year. Not gonna happen.
- Killer Queen - Queen - Greatest Hits
I'm noticing I have a lot of "Greatest Hits" CDs. Kind of embarassing, really.
- Chinese Translation - M. Ward - Post-War
Check out M. Ward if you haven't already. I really dig the song "To Go Home."
- Love Bites - Def Leppard - Vault: Def Leppard's Greatest Hits
Aw, COME ON!!!! Ipod's selling me down the river today! Maybe I'll do better next time.
Back to politics as usual on Monday!
